Mistake #2: You don't know which role you want. "Getting into cyber" is like saying you want to work in medicine. SOC, GRC, AppSec and incident response are different jobs. Pick the one closest to your IT background.
Mistake #4: Chasing certs. I've seen people with 6 certs bomb interviews because they couldn't explain what a SIEM does. Certs are tools, not trophies.
Mistake #7: Believing job descriptions. Most are wishlists. If you match 40% and can back it up with hands-on skills, apply.
